Greater customer service transparency for energy providers

Understand processes, strengthen service, and automate selectively.

Alyza brings transparency to customer service: How the energy sector can improve efficiency and stability

Rising contact volumes, recurring inquiries, and limited visibility into customer needs present major challenges for many energy providers and municipal utilities. Alyza’s AI-powered platform reveals what is really happening in customer service, enabling companies to improve processes systematically before automating them.

The energy sector must reconcile established structures with rapidly changing market conditions. The energy transition, volatile markets, new regulations, flexible tariffs, and rising customer expectations all need to be accommodated within existing structures and processes.

Energy providers and municipal utilities are under significant pressure to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Many respond by turning to automation. But companies that accelerate processes without first understanding them risk automating their own mistakes.

The principle: transparency, understanding, and augmentation before automation

This is where Alyza comes in. Instead of moving directly to automation, the platform provides the transparency companies need to make informed decisions about each use case.

Some customer interactions can be prevented before they occur—for example, through proactive communication or targeted process improvements. In other cases, customer service employees deliberately remain in the loop. AI provides data-driven insights, identifies coaching needs, and supports decisions without removing human responsibility.

This enables service teams to improve processes, refine their communication, and allocate resources more effectively. Quality deviations can be detected early, while post-processing effort is reduced even during periods of high demand.

Automation through voicebots or chatbots is introduced only when processes are clearly understood, stable, and auditable. Complex or sensitive cases remain under human control.

From analysis to automation: Three products for data-driven service management

Alyza provides three products that build on one another.

Analyza analyzes customer interactions across calls, chats, and emails. It presents KPIs such as reasons for contact, resolution rates, and customer and employee sentiment in a structured dashboard.

This allows companies to identify recurring topics, unresolved inquiries, and areas requiring action more quickly. Analyza also provides automatic conversation summaries and specific coaching tips for customer service employees.

Building on these insights, **Optimyza** supports the day-to-day management of customer service as a personalized, conversational AI assistant.

Using data from Analyza, the assistant identifies patterns and improvement opportunities and recommends specific measures. Daily status updates and proactive recommendations help companies improve workflows and advance process optimization systematically.

Automation follows only in the final step—and only where it demonstrably improves efficiency without compromising service quality.

Automyza is implemented together with partners and handles recurring, clearly resolvable inquiries that require little individual judgment.

For voicebot implementations, Alyza provides customized playbooks that serve as practical blueprints. They include use cases, sample conversation flows, potential objections, and insights derived from real customer interactions. This significantly reduces onboarding effort and improves implementation quality.

Alyza also monitors voicebot performance and provides insights for continuous improvement.

While comparable initiatives can involve lengthy, resource-intensive implementation phases, Alyza can be integrated within a few days without a complex IT project. The platform connects directly to existing CRM, contact center, and ticketing systems. Historical training data is not required.

Alyza is already working on pilot projects with Soluvia Energy GmbH as part of the data-driven development of customer service across the MVV Group and its affiliated companies.

As part of this collaboration, Alyza analyzes customer service calls between the energy companies’ customers and external service providers. The objective is to create a reliable data foundation for systematically improving service quality and efficiency.

Alyza is also being used by other shareholders, including Stadtwerke Kiel and Energieversorgung Offenbach.

Turning customer service from a cost center into a strategic lever

The goal of the Alyza team, led by founder and CEO Markus Stumpe, is to transform customer service from a cost center into a strategic business lever.

“Many energy providers still see customer service primarily as a cost center. Yet it offers one of the greatest opportunities to improve efficiency and drive growth. Companies that understand what happens during customer interactions can stabilize processes, protect service quality, and unlock new revenue potential—helping to make the energy transition economically viable,” says Stumpe.

About Alyza

Alyza was founded by Markus Stumpe in Hanover in 2016.

The platform analyzes customer interactions across calls, emails, and chats, turning them into actionable insights that support efficiency, service quality, and commercial performance.

A personalized AI assistant supports service teams in their daily work by identifying patterns, revealing opportunities for improvement, and recommending specific measures.

Alyza focuses on transparency, understanding, and the principle of “augmentation before automation.” Once processes are clearly understood, companies can determine where automation creates genuine value and where customer service employees should remain in control with AI support.
