The best companies of the next decade won't have the biggest teams.

At least that's what I've come to believe over the last 20 years.

One of the experiences that shaped my thinking happened during my time at TUI. We brought together a small team with complementary skills, gave them an ambitious goal, the resources they needed and, most importantly, the trust to make decisions. It wasn't always comfortable. It was demanding, sometimes exhausting, but it was also one of the most productive environments I've ever been part of.

That experience still shapes how I think about building companies today. High-performing organisations often don't scale by adding more people. They scale by building small, empowered teams that can move fast and take ownership.

That is exactly how we think about building Alyza. Our goal has never been to hire as many people as possible. We want small teams with different strengths, a shared ambition and clear ownership. Cover the essential roles, align everyone behind the same vision and then trust them to execute.

I think AI makes this model even more relevant. The companies that will outperform over the next decade won't necessarily have the biggest organisations. They'll be the ones that combine strong people with technology that removes repetitive work and helps them focus on what they do best.

Our goal isn't to build the biggest team. It's to build a team that can outperform much larger organisations.
